Remember Your Email & Internet Settings...
Many a time when we do home or office visits we are confronted with the problem that the person does not remember their Email settings or Internet login & password. Unlike being shopping and forgeting the 4 character PIN to pay for your groceries which is annoying, this will cause you additional costs and frustration as we have to be on-site longer and therefore your bill will be larger.
All ISP's (Internet Service Providers) require the following to allow you to access their services: Email Address, Account, Password, POP & SMTP Servers. Occasionally we can recover them from your PC system, but these cases are the minority. So before it costs you unnecessary expenditure find out what they are and write them down somewhere safe. If you want us to help just give us a call or email us on support@pcnetlogic.com

Data Backups, Play Safe & Don't Lose It!
We did cover backing up your important data a year or so ago, however as time moves on new solutions are available. It does not seem that long ago that being able to burn your data onto a CD that could store upto 700Mb of material would satisfy most peoples requirements, but now with the amount of data (music, photos, etc.) even using DVDs that hold up to 4.5Gb are not enough.
As ever technology is now available at affordable prices, we now recommend the use of external hard drives, these come in all shapes and sizes starting at around 80Gb and upto as much as 500Gb. The benefits these products give are many, they are easy to use, you can store backups from multiple PCs, as well as having a very quick recovery method when your computer plays up. External drives are readily available and we stock various models in the Grassington shop. If you require more information feel free to contact us on 01756 751770 or email us on support@pcnetlogic.com.

Keeping Things Running Smoothly... Good Practice?
Many of our customers have used the 'How to keep your XP PC clean' instructions over the years. For those who have forget or are new and want to know what you should be doing. then it is available to download and print out from our website (just Click Here).

This PDF document guides you though the three steps of performing the cleanup 'Click by Click'. You will need Adobe Reader® to open it, that is free to download from www.adobe.com
The routine should ideally be run on a monthly basis, however if it was only done four times a year you will still benefit. Dont forget once you've done this to do a full Spyware scan (we still recommend Spybot Search & Destroy® available from www.download.com) and lastly a full Virus Scan.
